Extending dramatically from either side are raised silver wings, individually decorated with numerous petite turquoise cabochons in wonderfully varied blue-green tones. Even the tiny head, antennae and legs have been modelled — such fabulous detail for a petite piece!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTHE SCARAB was one of the most important symbols of ancient Egypt, closely associated with the god Khepri and the rising sun. It represented rebirth, renewal, transformation and regeneration, while scarab amulets were worn and carried for protection and good fortune.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEgyptian imagery became enormously fashionable in Western decorative arts during the 19th-century Egyptian Revival, fuelled by archaeological discoveries and Europe's growing fascination with ancient Egypt.
