Dating to the late Victorian era, circa 1892, this generously sized and wonderfully weighty sterling silver sweetheart brooch has been handcrafted around an original Queen Victoria Indian 1 Rupee coin, struck in .917 silver.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe coin itself makes a spectacular centrepiece. One side bears the crowned and elaborately dressed portrait of Queen Victoria, surrounded by the legend “VICTORIA EMPRESS” — a title adopted following her proclamation as Empress of India in 1876. The reverse carries the denomination ONE RUPEE INDIA together with beautiful Persian\/Urdu script, giving the brooch enormous character from either side.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe coin has been mounted within an ornate handcrafted sterling silver frame, decorated with scrolling and applied details that create an almost floral, wreath-like border around the rupee.
