A beautiful antique sweetheart brooch featuring a genuine 1895 British sterling silver One Shilling coin, wonderfully decorated with colourful enamel!

The front of the coin features the magnificent Royal Coat of Arms, beautifully highlighted with rich cobalt-blue enamel, delicate touches of red, yellow and white, and the inscription ONE SHILLING 1895.

The reverse features the portrait of Queen Victoria, who reigned from 1837 until 1901.
The enamelled coin rests inside a decorative sterling silver circular frame with a traditional brooch pin fastening. What makes this piece particularly interesting is that the coin can be removed from its frame!

A LITTLE HISTORY: During the Victorian era, coins were frequently transformed into sentimental keepsakes and jewellery. Enamelled coins became especially popular as decorative brooches, combining patriotic symbolism, royal history and beautiful craftsmanship.

The 1895 shilling was struck during the later years of Queen Victoria's reign and features her distinctive Old Head portrait.
