Unsurprisingly, the Victorian Era is named after Queen Victoria of England. She ruled in the 1800s and played a key role in shaping the jewelry trends of the time. The era divides into three distinct periods. Each of the three phases aligns with specific periods in Queen Victoria's life.

It is more common to come across Victorian jewelry compared to Georgian jewelry, making it easier to locate. Gold and silver were still the top choices for metals in Victorian Era Jewelry. During this period, garnets, amethyst, turquoise, sapphires, pearls, and diamonds were trendy gemstones. Themes that included animals, particularly snakes, were highly favored.
Victorian jewelry was characterized by a diverse blend of symbols that reflected the changing preferences and cultural beliefs of the time. Victorian jewelry often featured natural elements such as flowers, leaves, and insects, incorporating the language of flowers and symbolism into their designs. Every flower held a unique significance, allowing individuals to convey feelings and emotions through their accessories. Lockets and mourning jewelry with locks of hair or miniature portraits were used to enhance sentimentality, serving as poignant mementos to remember loved ones.
