A beautifully detailed miniature French Légion d'Honneur (Legion of Honour) decoration, crafted in silver with gold plating and exquisite colourful enamel work!

This charming miniature features the iconic five-armed, white enamel double-pointed star, beautifully outlined in gold, with delicate green enamel laurel and oak leaves nestled between its arms.

At its centre is a portrait medallion surrounded by deep blue enamel bearing the inscription “République Française 1870”, while a beautifully detailed green enamel wreath forms the suspension above.

The reverse is equally impressive, featuring the traditional crossed French flags and the inscription “Honneur et Patrie” — Honour and Fatherland.

A LITTLE HISTORY: Established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, the Legion of Honour is France's highest national order of merit, awarded in recognition of outstanding military and civilian achievements.

The 1870 inscription reflects the French Third Republic design tradition rather than necessarily indicating the medal's exact date of manufacture.
