ULTRA RARE FIND!! Chunky Antique Turkoman Tekke Sterling Silver Cuff with Carnelian Cabochons.
A commanding, museum-worthy example of early 20th-century nomadic jewellery, this extraordinary cuff comes from the legendary Tekke tribe of Turkmenistan (circa 1920s) — known for producing some of the most iconic and collectible tribal silverwork in the world.
THE PRESENCE
This is not a delicate piece — this is armour-like adornment.
• Wide, heavy gauge silver construction.
• Bold open cuff form for that unmistakable tribal silhouette.
CARNELIAN – THE STONE OF LIFE & PROTECTION
Set across the front are three oval carnelian cabochons, glowing in rich deep amber-red tones:
• Traditionally believed to bring strength, vitality, and protection.
• Worn as talismans against negative energy.
• A signature element of Turkoman adornment.
DETAILING & CRAFTSMANSHIP
• Intricate hand-applied silver filigree spirals forming symmetrical tribal motifs.
• Traces of original fire gilding (gold accents) still visible — adding warmth and depth.
• Striking pierced crown-like terminals — almost architectural in feel.
Every detail is handworked, carrying the imperfections and soul of true nomadic artistry.
FIRE GILDING – A LOST ART
One of the most special aspects here:
• Traditional mercury gilding technique.
• Gold fused onto the surface through heat.
• Dangerous for artisans — and rarely practiced today.
What remains is that soft, aged golden glow collectors chase.
