A fabulous collection of 7 unset hand-carved shell cameos, ranging from tiny little miniature portraits to beautifully detailed larger examples — all salvaged from antique/vintage jewellery pieces.
This collection is particularly lovely!! The largest cameo features an exquisitely carved classical lady surrounded by flowers and foliage, with incredible detail through her elaborate curled hair, while the remaining cameos each depict their own elegant female portrait.
I absolutely LOVE the natural colouring of these old shell cameos — creamy ivory reliefs carved against gorgeous warm peach, coral and terracotta backgrounds.
Traditionally, cameo carvers cleverly worked with the contrasting natural layers of shell, removing the upper layer to create these incredibly detailed raised portraits. Each was carved individually, meaning no two are ever quite identical.
And these are all UNSET!!
