A fabulous early unisex creation by South African jewellery design house Nom Nom, with that wonderfully earthy, contemporary aesthetic for which their pieces are known.

This choker-length necklace features three fine strands of black cord, accented with tiny polished black beads and two beautifully detailed feather charms — one crafted in solid 9ct rose gold and the other in sterling silver. The contrasting metals against the black cord give the piece a relaxed, slightly tribal-bohemian edge while remaining wonderfully understated.

THE FEATHER
Across cultures, feathers have long symbolised freedom, courage, spiritual connection and the ability to rise above — making this little pair far more meaningful than simple decorative charms.

Being an earlier Nom Nom creation adds another lovely dimension for collectors of South African contemporary jewellery. Comparable new Nom Nom necklaces today can retail well in excess of R10,000, making these earlier pieces particularly interesting finds.
