Rare Arts & Crafts Sterling & Gold Drop Earrings.
A spectacular Arts & Crafts era treasure (c. 1900s) — this generous, hand-wrought pair of clip-on drop earrings perfectly captures the raw spirit and bold design language of early artisan metalwork. Sensitive and sculptural, they blend oxidised sterling silver with elegant gold-plated wire accents, forming a striking contrast that feels both ancient and avant-garde.
Each earring features a domed circular top button, its surface intentionally patinated to a moody charcoal tone. From the centre, a slim ribbon of gold-plated wire runs vertically, curving organically like a stylised vine or flame — an iconic Arts & Crafts motif celebrating nature’s asymmetry.
Suspended below is a geometric tapered drop panel, again in oxidised sterling, outlined with flowing strokes of gold wire that curl into whimsical scrolls at the base. The lines feel alive — a perfect example of Art Nouveau meets Arts & Crafts personality, created when makers intentionally kept materials honest and decoration hand-driven rather than machine-perfect.
Even the clip-on mechanisms are hand-fabricated, wrapped in coiled gold wire and finished with miniature loops — no commercial fittings here! This adds immense character and confirms their maker-made origin rather than mass production.
These earrings are wearable sculptures — a celebration of handmade imperfection, honest metals, and flowing nature-inspired form.
