RARE TRIBAL TREASURE – Sterling Silver & African Amber Bracelet.
A striking and authentic example of North African Berber adornment, this bracelet is crafted with alternating chunky African amber beads and handmade sterling silver filigree spheres.
The amber beads glow with rich hues of deep honey and burnt orange, each irregularly shaped and full of natural character – a visual reminder of the ancient trade routes that carried amber, copal, and resin through the Saharan markets. In Berber culture, these beads were more than ornament; they symbolised wealth, fertility, and protection, often passed down through generations as family heirlooms.
Between each amber section sits a large sterling silver bead, intricately worked in traditional Moroccan filigree. The fine coiled wirework forms protective spiral motifs, a hallmark of Amazigh silversmithing and a spiritual symbol of eternity and the cycle of life.
Comparable Berber silver and amber bracelets are valued between $150 – $600 (R2700 – R11,000) depending on age, condition, and material authenticity.
This bracelet carries the voice of the desert, the marketplace, and the silversmith’s forge – a timeless link to North African heritage.
