RUBIES FOR DAAAAYYYYSSS!

A true Expedition with Jones treasure! Up for grabs is this absolutely stunning vintage Indian five-strand Sarafa ruby gemstone necklace — a masterpiece of traditional craftsmanship and opulent gemstone beauty.

Each strand is intricately strung with natural ruby rondelle beads, beautifully hand-cut and faceted to catch and reflect light from every angle. The beads gracefully graduate in size, from larger near the base to smaller toward the neckline — creating a natural drape and rhythm that moves with you. The strands are finished with a traditional Indian handwoven red-and-gold silk cord and gold-threaded tassels, complete with an adjustable length toggle clasp for versatile styling.

Rubies — the “King of Gems” — have long symbolized passion, protection, and prosperity. Prized in India for millennia, they were once believed to embody the fire of life itself. Known in Sanskrit as ratnaraj, meaning “leader of precious stones,” rubies were treasured by ancient kings and warriors who wore them as talismans for courage and victory.

Ruby is the birthstone for July, representing love, vitality, and strength of heart. In gemstone lore, rubies are said to ignite passion, inspire confidence, and attract success. Wearing rubies close to the heart — as in this regal multi-strand necklace — is believed to enhance life force and energy, protecting the wearer from negativity.

Necklaces like this, crafted in India’s famed gemstone trading districts such as Jaipur or Varanasi, were traditionally worn during weddings and auspicious ceremonies, symbolizing wealth and divine energy. Similar vintage Sarafa ruby necklaces command high values on today’s collector market, often ranging from R6,000 to R12,000 ($320–$650) depending on quality, cut, and carat weight.

A bold, bohemian, and undeniably regal statement piece — perfect for stacking, layering, or letting shine solo as your mark of majesty.
