Such a cool little piece! A vintage sterling silver Victorian Revival pinky ring, fashioned in the form of a miniature belt and buckle, complete with wonderful textured detailing and a raised buckle across the front.
The design takes its inspiration directly from the sentimental buckle jewellery of the Victorian era, when buckles appeared on rings, bracelets, brooches and lockets. They were particularly fashionable during the 19th century and were exchanged not only between lovers, but also between close friends and family.
THE BUCKLE SYMBOLISM
To the Victorians, a buckle represented loyalty, fidelity, strength and an enduring bond — essentially the idea of two being securely fastened together. Buckle rings were therefore sometimes given as love tokens, promise rings and even wedding rings.
