Such a beautiful treasure! A wonderfully detailed vintage Chinese pendant, hand-carved from natural pale lavender amethyst with gorgeous translucency that really allows the intricate carving to come alive in the light.

The carving features a Chinese gourd (hulu) entwined with foliage alongside a persimmon fruit — both wonderfully auspicious motifs in traditional Chinese decorative arts. The gourd has long been associated with longevity, protection, good health and the warding off of negative energy, while the persimmon is traditionally linked with good fortune, joy and wishes coming to fruition.

Finished simply with a sterling silver jump-ring bail, allowing the carving itself to remain the star of the show.
