COOL FIND!! | VINTAGE 1976 TUTANKHAMUN DOUBLE CARTOUCHE STERLING SILVER RING.

Ohhhh, this is a fabulous piece of EGYPTIAN REVIVAL history!!

A wonderfully unusual vintage sterling silver ring dating to circa 1976, associated with the legendary Treasures of Tutankhamun exhibition era at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The ring features TWO beautifully detailed, openwork Egyptian cartouches, positioned one above the other and decorated with raised hieroglyphic-style symbols. The unusual split-shank construction, sculptural detailing and oxidised recesses give this piece a fantastic ancient Egyptian aesthetic.

THE HISTORY: The discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb by Howard Carter in 1922 sparked worldwide fascination with ancient Egypt. That excitement returned during the famous Treasures of Tutankhamun touring exhibition, which began in the United States in 1976 and reached the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1978–1979.

In ancient Egypt, a cartouche was an oval enclosure surrounding a royal name written in hieroglyphs, symbolising royal identity and protection.

COLLECTOR'S NOTE: The inside is stamped © 1976 MMA, identifying the design as a copyrighted Metropolitan Museum of Art reproduction — a wonderful connection to the Egyptian Revival jewellery produced during the Tutankhamun exhibition era.

A wearable piece of KING TUT history!!

Measurements : The ring measures as a size M as per ring measure stick and weight of 8.6grams
