Set with a small Rose-Cut Diamond in a Gypsy Star Setting — A Sentimental Treasure from a Bygone Era
Here we have an exceptionally charming and highly sought-after Edwardian era puffed heart locket, crafted circa 1900 in glowing 9ct rose gold. This beautiful jewel captures everything collectors adore about turn-of-the-century sentimental pieces — romance, symbolism, craftsmanship, and history — all wrapped into one warm golden heart.
The front of the locket is decorated with the era’s beloved gypsy star burst motif, a symbol associated with destiny, guidance, and protection. At its centre twinkles a small rose-cut diamond, hand-shaped in the old manner with flat facets that were originally meant to sparkle under candlelight. These antique cuts carry a soft, magical glow unique to the period.
Being over 120 years old, the locket shows gentle age-related signs, including a few small antique pin dents front and back — incredibly common for hollow puffed lockets of the period. These do not detract from its beauty whatsoever and instead add to its charm, authenticity, and lived history.
As with all Edwardian sentimental jewellery, every element carries meaning:
*Heart — Love, devotion, remembrance.
*Star — Hope, guidance, “You are my North Star”.
*Diamond — Loyalty, eternity, the strongest of bonds.
*Locket — A vessel for memories and treasured moments.
This locket was created to hold someone close — quite literally — against the heart.
