Art Deco Era 1930’s Czech Faux Amethyst Glass Beaded Necklace.
This elegant necklace is a striking example of 1930’s Czech glass craftsmanship, created during the Art Deco era when Bohemian glassmakers were at the height of their artistry. The piece features faux amethyst glass beads—carefully made to imitate the look of natural amethyst, with their swirling purple marbled interiors that give each bead a unique depth and character.
The beads are oval in shape and beautifully graduated in size, with the largest beads set at the center and tapering gradually to smaller beads toward the clasp—a classic Art Deco design detail that enhances balance and symmetry. Each bead is individually hand-linked with sterling silver connectors, adding both strength and refinement.
The silver links have developed a gentle antique patina, complementing the rich purple tones of the glass.
During the early 20th century, Czech glassmakers became world-renowned for their ability to imitate precious gemstones in glass with remarkable skill. These “faux amethyst” beads were a popular export item, widely admired for their beauty and affordability. Today, authentic Art Deco Czech bead necklaces such as this are highly collectible, representing both the artistry of Bohemian glass and the glamour of the Deco period.
