Up for grabs is this exceptionally striking recycled spoon pendant by the South African maker Zim, a name deeply associated with handcrafted cutlery jewellery, upcycled metal art, and sustainable design in the local maker movement from the late 1990s through the 2010s.

Zim became known for transforming discarded vintage cutlery into bold, symbolic, wearable statements — turning the overlooked into the unforgettable. Each piece was hand-cut, shaped, pierced, and assembled using traditional metalworking techniques, meaning no two pieces were ever truly identical.

This pendant was crafted from a genuine vintage spoon bowl, with the front formed in nickel silver — softly aged with a beautiful antique glow — and fitted onto a warm solid brass backing plate, creating a striking two-tone metal contrast full of visual depth and character.

The front features an ornately pierced heraldic-style frame ( also recycled from a spoon), with elegant scrolling and crown-like detailing.

The pendant is not hollowly stamped — it is solidly constructed, with the separate fitted brass backing plate, a proper old-school spoon jewellery technique that ensures durability and weight. This is not flimsy craft — this is proper hand-built metalwork.

The pendant comes fitted on a generous extra-length sterling silver chain.

Measurements : The spoon pendant measures 4.1cm x 2.5cm.The chain with a length of 60cm and 2.40mm wide. The pendant and chain with a weight of 20.6 grams.
