This highly sought after antique Arts & Crafts / Jugendstil-era cocktail ring is beautifully hand-crafted in 835 silver, a common fineness standard used in continental Europe (particularly Germany and the surrounding regions) during the late 19th and early 20th century.

At its center rests a generous oval-cut sky blue topaz, bezel-set for security yet raised proudly above the ornate silver gallery.

The bezel is surrounded by an intricate openwork silver gallery, decorated with fluid whiplash scrolls and foliate motifs, emblematic of Jugendstil design (the German equivalent of Art Nouveau). These scrolling forms create a crown-like setting, giving the ring a sense of regality and artistry. The band tapers elegantly to the shoulders, providing both durability and comfort while maintaining stylistic harmony with the elaborate head of the ring.

The Jugendstil movement was the German-Austrian parallel to French Art Nouveau, characterized by flowing organic lines, nature-inspired motifs, and handcrafted artistry rather than mass production. Rings of this era often featured bezel settings, openwork silver galleries, and gemstones with natural appeal.

For collectors, Jugendstil silver jewelry is increasingly sought after, especially when in good condition with original gemstones intact. Similar antique 835 silver rings set with natural gemstones typically range between €250–€600 (R5,000–R11,500) depending on size, condition, and provenance.
