Magnificent and luminous, this large Baltic “piebald” amber pendant glows like captured sunlight! Expertly polished into an organic free-form shape, it reveals a mesmerizing internal landscape of fiery inclusions and “petal-like” swirls suspended in golden honey tones. These natural internal formations — affectionately known as “ice flower” or “sunflower” patterns — are characteristic of piebald amber, a variety prized by collectors for its vivid internal play of light and color.
The pendant radiates a deep cognac-to-golden hue, with scattered flecks of rich cherry-red and warm butterscotch that appear to float within the resin. When viewed in sunlight or under a light source, it comes alive with glowing depth and dimensionality — and under UV light, it reveals its secret signature glow: a brilliant green fluorescence, confirming its natural Baltic origin.
Suspended from a sterling silver jump ring and chain bail, this piece feels both ancient and modern — a wearable fossil of time itself, formed from prehistoric tree resin over 40 million years ago.
Amber of this quality was once treasured by Vikings and traded along the Amber Road as a gem of protection and warmth.
Large amber pendants of this size and quality typically command prices between $150 and $250 (R2700 – R4500) on the collectors’ market.
A perfect addition to any Expedition with Jones collection — a glowing relic of Earth’s ancient forests, captured forever in golden light.
