Up for grabs is this MOST incredible Antique Georgian era circa 1800 foiled back Almandine Garnet Riviere/Collar necklace with detachable pendant/brooch drop.Set in 10ct Yellow/Rosy Gold.
The Riviere necklace featuring beautiful 3 stone trilogy links , each link adorned with a Georgian collet set flat Oval cut Garnet in the centre and flanked by smaller Oval flat cut Garnets on each side - The Riviere necklace consists of 18 of these detailed links.
The detachable Maltese shaped pendant/brooch collet set with a flat Oval cut Almandine Garnet in the centre , surrounded by flat Round cut Garnets and flat Pear cut Garnets.
All the Garnets set in closed foiled back collet settings ,typical of the Georgian period.
The necklace fastens with characteristic hidden box clasp.For a True Riviere necklace even the clasp had to be disguised to maintain the illusion of a continuous circlet of light.The Garnet topped clasp is in excellent condition - crisply and securely clicking shut but easy to release by push and slide motion.
Similar Riviere necklaces as magical as this one are demanding prices of bewteen R90 000 and R110 000 online...and some even more!!
The necklace is not Hallmarked as per the norm with Georgian treasures , tested and confirmed to be 10ct Gold.The pin closure of the pendant/brooch is not Gold.
Measurements :The Riviere necklace with a total length of 39.5cm and 9mm wide.The pendant/brooch measures 4.3cm x 4.3cm excluding the bail.The larger Oval cut Garnets each measure approx 8mm x 5mm.Necklace and pendant with a combined weight of 29.1grams.
