The case back carries that wonderful Seamaster hippocampus emblem — one of Omega’s most recognisable signatures.

The watch is fitted with a later replacement Speidel U.S.A. stretch bracelet, giving it that wonderfully nostalgic mid-century gentleman’s-watch look.

THE SEAMASTER STORY
Omega launched the Seamaster collection in 1948, and it has since become the brand’s longest-running and arguably most famous family of watches.

Being an Automatic, the mechanical movement winds itself through the natural movement of the wearer’s wrist — no battery here!

CONDITION NOTE: This gentleman is working and happily ticking away, but he definitely deserves a good professional service and some TLC to bring him back to his former glory. The dial, face and case show honest age-related wear/patina, and the stretch bracelet is a replacement. Priced accordingly and sold in its present vintage condition.

And these old Seamasters certainly have a following! Comparable vintage gold-plated automatic Seamasters are currently advertised in South Africa around R9,800–R12,999, while international listings can climb considerably higher depending on reference, originality, condition and servicing.
