RARE TREASURE – Oversized Antique Chinese Silvertone Pendant Depicting a Warrior on a Qilin with Longevity Charms.
This striking antique pendant is a true piece of Chinese artistry and symbolism. Crafted in silvertone metal, it depicts a warrior figure riding the mythical Qilin—a legendary creature in Chinese culture often described as part dragon, part horse, and part deer.
The Qilin is known as a benevolent beast, said to appear only during times of great prosperity or to herald the birth or passing of a sage. In traditional belief, it symbolizes good fortune, protection, and divine justice, making it a powerful talisman to wear or carry.
Suspended from the bottom of the pendant are four dangling chains ending in fruit-shaped charms, likely representing peaches of immortality. In Chinese lore, the peach is strongly tied to longevity and eternal life, often associated with the Queen Mother of the West (Xi Wangmu), whose peaches ripen only once every 3,000 years to grant everlasting life to those who eat them.
Together with the Qilin, these charms turn this pendant into a potent amulet of prosperity, health, long life, and protection against misfortune.
