RARE FIND – Vintage 1970s Taxco Modernist Statement Earrings by Fer’s.
These earrings are a total moment — bold, architectural, and unmistakably Taxco modernist.
Crafted in solid sterling silver, this marvelous pair features a beautifully articulated drop design composed of stacked, fan-shaped segments that move fluidly. The sculptural fans are suspended from a sleek half-round domed stud, creating a strong yet balanced silhouette that feels both powerful and elegant.
At the very base, the final fan element is finished with a tube-set round black onyx cabochon, adding a deep inky contrast against the softly aged silver surface. It’s that perfect 1970s design tension: geometry + movement + a touch of mysticism.
The construction is exceptional — each fan is individually formed and linked, allowing the earrings to sway freely while maintaining their bold, graphic presence. They’re substantial without being clunky, and dramatic without trying too hard. Classic wearable sculpture.
These earrings are fully and correctly signed, bearing:
*“Fer's” – identifying the maker
*“TC-132” – the official Mexican silver registry number.
*“925” & “Mexico” – confirming sterling silver content and origin.
This combination firmly places the earrings within the golden era of Mexican modernist silver.
During the mid-20th century, Taxco emerged as the beating heart of Mexican silver design. By the 1960s–1970s, Taxco workshops were producing some of the most innovative modernist jewelry in the world — pieces inspired by Brutalist architecture, pre-Columbian forms, and clean European modernism, all interpreted through masterful silversmithing techniques.
Fer's was one of the skilled Taxco makers working during this highly collectible period, producing bold yet refined designs that emphasized form, articulation, and craftsmanship. Today, signed Taxco pieces with clear registry numbers like TC-132 are increasingly scarce and highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
