Such a fabulous chunky one! A vintage unisex costume ring, crafted in silver-plated metal and designed as a wonderfully bold Victorian Revival belt & buckle ring.
The broad band wraps around the finger like a miniature belt, complete with a raised buckle, keeper and little punched “belt hole” detail — simple, sculptural and seriously cool worn as a statement or pinky ring.
THE BUCKLE SYMBOLISM
The belt-and-buckle became an especially popular jewellery motif during the Victorian era, symbolising loyalty, fidelity, strength and an enduring bond — quite literally, two things securely fastened together. Victorian buckle rings were exchanged between lovers, friends and family and could even appear in mourning jewellery to represent a bond that remained unbroken.
Although this example is a later Victorian Revival costume piece rather than an original Victorian ring, it beautifully recreates that iconic 19th-century design.
