This 1940/50's Egyptian Revival sterling silver brooch is a stunning and intricately crafted piece that pays homage to the grandeur of ancient Egypt. The brooch features a pierced and embossed design, meticulously worked to depict a Pharaoh in his chariot, bow drawn, poised for action.

The Pharaoh, standing tall in the chariot, is adorned with a traditional nemes headdress, emphasizing his royal stature. His finely detailed bow is fully extended, as if he is about to release an arrow, a pose that symbolizes both strength and divine protection.

At the forefront of the composition is the galloping horse, its legs extended in motion, conveying a sense of power and urgency. The chariot is richly detailed with decorative embellishments.

Standing near the chariot is a small attendant, possibly symbolizing loyalty or guidance, reinforcing the hierarchical structure of ancient Egyptian society.

The entire motif is encased within a bold, circular sterling silver frame, which features an intricate geometric zigzag and triangular pattern along the edge. This border is reminiscent of ancient Egyptian decorative elements, often found in architectural friezes and jewelry from the period. The pierced silverwork adds an airy, lace-like quality, allowing fabric to subtly show through when worn, creating an interplay between light and shadow.

This brooch is a remarkable example of the Egyptian Revival jewelry movement, which surged in popularity during the 1920s following the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922. However, the fascination with Egypt endured well into the 1940/50s, influencing jewelry designers to create pieces that blended ancient aesthetics with modern craftsmanship.
