This exquisite antique Victorian-era brooch is crafted in sterling silver and features a 1887 Queen Victoria Jubilee Head silver shilling coin as its central element.
The brooch is designed with a swivel mechanism, allowing the wearer to display either the obverse (portrait of Queen Victoria) or the reverse (heraldic shield design) at will.
The brooch’s bezel setting is adorned with delicate silver spheres around its circumference, giving it an ornate yet timeless appeal. This decorative border enhances the coin’s presentation while also reflecting the era’s craftsmanship.
*Obverse (Front): Features the Jubilee Head portrait of Queen Victoria, wearing a small crown and facing left. The surrounding Latin inscription reads:
"VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITT: REGINA FID: DEF:"
(Victoria, by the Grace of God, Queen of Britain, Defender of the Faith).
*Reverse (Back): Displays the royal shield design, divided into quadrants representing England (three lions), Scotland (lion rampant), and Ireland (harp). A crown sits above the shield, symbolizing British sovereignty. The inscription encircling the shield reads:
