RARE & HIGHLY SOUGHT-AFTER VICTORIAN TREASURE — ANTIQUE GOLD TASSEL PENDANT.

This exquisite antique Victorian-era tassel pendant is the very definition of elegance — a jewel that whispers stories from the 19th century while still feeling impossibly chic today.

Crafted in a harmonious blend of 9ct yellow gold with white and rose gold accents, this pendant features a beautifully sculpted tassel cap adorned with intricate detailing. The upper section is decorated with white, rose and yellow gold highlights and delicate applied motifs, creating a rich contrast against the warm tones of the buttery gold body — a classic Victorian colour palette prized by collectors.

Suspended below is a luxurious multi-chain fringe tassel, composed of fine gold links that sway and shimmer with every movement.

The chains are expertly finished with tiny gold tips, adding weight, balance, and a soft, hypnotic drape. When worn, the tassel comes alive — fluid, elegant, and undeniably sensual in motion.

Gold tassel pendants rose to prominence during the Victorian era (circa 1850–1900), a period obsessed with symbolism, craftsmanship, and wearable artistry. Tassels symbolised:Wealth & status, Femininity and refinement, Continuity and eternity through flowing, unbroken chains.

These pendants were often worn on long guard chains, Albert chains, or chokers, and were considered versatile jewels — suitable for both daywear and evening grandeur. Their popularity surged during the Aesthetic and Late Victorian periods, making surviving examples today increasingly scarce.

Comparable examples currently command prices between R8,000 and R14,500 internationally, depending on condition, weight, and complexity — with values steadily rising as fewer intact examples remain on the market.
