RARE FIND !!This exquisite Art Deco era double-sided locket is a dreamy example of early 20th-century craftsmanship. Hallmarked and lovingly crafted in solid 9ct rose gold, the piece dates back to Chester, circa 1932, and bears the maker’s mark of William John Pellow—a name known for quality goldwork during the Edwardian and Art Deco transition period.
The locket is beautifully adorned in a delicate Art Nouveau style, with gold vines and petite floral details curling gracefully around the frame. At the top, two round-cut garnets are nestled in prong settings, adding a splash of deep crimson sparkle—garnets being symbolic of love, protection, and vitality.
The clever screw-top bail mechanism allows the locket to open and close securely, a charmingly old-fashioned feature that feels both ornamental and practical. Inside are two clear windows, later replacements made from plastic rather than the original glass panes. While not original, they serve their purpose well and preserve the locket’s functionality without compromising its antique beauty.
Perfect for holding cherished portraits or pressed keepsakes.
