RARE FIND — Oversized Art Deco Guilloché Enamel Belt Buckle (c.1920s).
Romantic. Elegant. Pure Jazz Age glamour.
This stunning Art Deco era belt buckle, dating to around the 1920s, is a beautiful blend of craftsmanship and decorative artistry. Designed in a bold rounded-square silhouette, it has that strong geometric presence typical of the Deco period — structured, balanced, and statement-making.
The frame is crafted in gold-plated brass, giving it that warm antique glow, and is lavishly adorned with guilloché enamel — a technique where fine engine-turned patterns sit beneath translucent enamel, creating incredible depth and a soft, luminous sheen.
The decoration is absolutely dreamy: Pink roses — symbolising love, beauty, and femininity.
Forget-me-nots — traditionally associated with remembrance and enduring connection.
Delicate green vine work tying the floral motifs together in a graceful continuous border.
The outer band in soft mauve/lilac tones frames the white enamel centre, giving the piece that perfect balance between romance and structured Deco design. Inside, the original buckle prongs remain intact, showing its functional roots while now reading as a highly collectible decorative jewel.
Large-scale enamel buckles like this were statement pieces of their day, often worn on wide belts over dresses and coats — and today they’re highly sought after by collectors of Art Deco jewellery and accessories.
Comparable Art Deco guilloché enamel buckles have been seen priced around $395 AUD (± R4,400), placing this firmly in the desirable and collectible category — especially in this size and condition.( see last picture )
