They are made from sterling silver and feature an exquisite arrangement of sparkly foiled-back diamond paste stones, set in traditional Georgian collet settings. The design is both elaborate and elegant, combining floral and architectural elements with cascading drops, creating a highly desirable heirloom piece.
The earrings are articulated in three main sections:
The top section features a delicate floral design with small round-cut paste stones.
The middle section has a symmetrical motif shaped like a flower or quatrefoil, emphasizing the romantic aesthetics of the Georgian era.
The bottom section consists of a bold, dangling cluster of paste stones arranged in a cross or rosette-inspired pattern, suspended from the central motif.
The paste stones are cut in round and cushion shapes and backed with silver foil, a hallmark of antique Georgian jewelry. The foil enhances the brilliance of the stones by reflecting light, making them glow under candlelight or subdued evening lighting.
These earrings demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship, characteristic of the late Georgian era when jewelry was often handmade and richly detailed. The silverwork is intricate, with delicate floral and geometric motifs symbolizing natural beauty and balance.
Similar earrings, characterized by their elaborate detailing and perceived rarity, are being sold online for well over R12,000.
