Victorian Fox Fang Hunting Pendant (circa late 1800s).
An extraordinary piece of Victorian sporting history — this authentic antique fox fang pendant encapsulates the romanticism and symbolism of the hunt during the late 19th century. Carefully preserved in its original deep blue velvet presentation box, this relic would once have adorned the watch chain or chatelaine of a discerning Victorian gentleman or lady with a love for the countryside.
The pendant features a real fox canine tooth, naturally curved and beautifully aged to a soft ivory hue with warm patina — a testament to its authenticity and age. The fang is elegantly mounted with an engraved sterling silver cap and bail, chased with fine foliate detailing typical of late Victorian craftsmanship.
During the Victorian era, hunting trophies were not merely souvenirs but emblems of bravery, virility, and connection to nature. Fox teeth, in particular, were believed to symbolize cunning, protection, and tenacity, making them popular keepsakes worn as charms or talismans. Many were mounted in silver or gold by master silversmiths in England and Europe, often commemorating successful hunts or given as sentimental tokens.
