A beautiful pair of vintage circa 1950s sterling silver clip-on earrings by the highly regarded and sought-after South African jewellery designer Joe Calafato, created under his celebrated brand name Candida.

Each earring is masterfully crafted in the shape of a stylised flower, its four pointed petals sculpted with a raised central ridge and soft oxidised detailing to enhance depth. Clusters of rounded silver “berries” accent the petals, adding a playful yet elegant texture. The clip-on backs make them wonderfully versatile — they’re not only perfect for the earlobes but also make charming collar clips for a blouse or jacket lapel.

Joe Calafato was a prominent South African silversmith and jewellery designer active from the 1940s to the 1980s.
