LUCK, LEGEND & A LITTLE REBELLIOUS CHARM

What an absolutely fabulous find! A rare batch of vintage circa 1950s “old-new stock” sterling silver lucky charms, beautifully crafted in a Victorian Revival style. Each charm features the iconic lucky horseshoe embracing the famously misunderstood number 13 — creating the ultimate talisman of protection, luck, and fortune.

The horseshoe has been treasured for centuries as one of the world’s oldest symbols of good luck and protection. Traditionally hung upright to “hold” luck inside, horseshoes were believed to ward off evil spirits and attract prosperity. The association dates back to medieval Europe, where iron itself was thought to possess magical protective powers.

And then comes the wonderfully controversial number 13… While many fear it, throughout history it has also been regarded by others as a deeply mystical and powerful number connected to transformation, intuition, feminine energy, and destiny. In many old folk traditions, pairing 13 with a horseshoe actually amplified the charm’s protective and lucky qualities.

These delightful little charms were crafted during the huge mid-century revival of Victorian sentimental jewellery, where nostalgic symbols and romantic motifs once again became wildly fashionable. Beautifully detailed and wonderfully collectable, they are perfect for charm bracelets, necklaces, lockets, or layered into a magical neckmess.

A truly special treasure-hunter find — and with only a limited amount available, these little lucky talismans certainly won’t stick around for long.
