WOW!!! Now THIS is a serious statement ring!  An extremely chunky early creation by renowned Cape Town jewellery designer Philippa Green, showcasing the wonderfully bold, sculptural aesthetic for which her work has become so recognisable.

Crafted in beautifully substantial bronze, the ring features a thick, broad band supporting an enormous raised circular setting — almost architectural in its proportions. The centrepiece is a spectacular round dendritic agate cabochon, simply bezel/tube set so that absolutely nothing distracts from the stone.

THE DENDRITIC AGATE
And what a stone!! Dendritic agate is prized for its extraordinary naturally occurring branching inclusions, usually formed by manganese and iron oxides. These create patterns resembling tiny trees, ferns, moss and miniature landscapes.
This particular stone is especially beautiful — against its softly translucent milky-grey background, the dark dendrites rise from the bottom like the silhouette of a little tree or forest trapped inside the stone. Completely created by nature and therefore utterly unique.

Philippa Green has been creating jewellery in Cape Town for more than two decades, with her work particularly known for bold scale, unconventional materials, sculptural forms and individuality. Her studio still produces pieces by hand in Cape Town and maintains a dedicated “One of a Kind” collection.

This is an earlier Philippa Green creation and a fabulous example of the oversized gemstone rings that have become such a recognisable part of her design language.
